Amairany Rodríguez Navarrete

Amairany Rodríguez Navarrete is a Dental Surgeon from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and Master of Science in Molecular Biomedicine from the National School of Medicine and Homeopathy of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN). She is currently pursuing a PhD in Biotechnology Sciences at the IPN, where she develops research focused on the design, fabrication and evaluation of advanced biomaterials for tissue engineering applications.

His career combines clinical and biomedical training with laboratory experience, participating in projects that integrate dentistry, cell biology and materials science. He has worked on the collection and characterization of stem cells derived from dental pulp, evaluating their interaction with different scaffolds and modified surfaces to promote bone and craniofacial tissue regeneration.

His research experience includes the following:

  • Development of polymeric scaffolds by 3D printing (PCL, PLGA, chitosan) and strontium-doped composites for bone regeneration applications.
  • Biocompatibility evaluation of carbon nanofibers and surface modification to improve cell adhesion and proliferation.
  • In vitro and in vivo studies on mineralization, cell viability and osteoinduction in preclinical models.
  • Characterization of biomaterials with electron microscopy, spectroscopy, mechanical analysis and cell culture assays.

In the academic field, she is a lecturer in the career of Dental Surgeon at FES Iztacala (UNAM), teaching theoretical and practical classes in areas related to dentistry and biomedicine. She has also participated as a speaker in national and international congresses, presenting her research results and collaborating in scientific networks.

His academic production includes publications in peer-reviewed journals such as Polymers, Polymer Bulletin y Journal of Biomaterials Applications, in which he has contributed to the advancement of knowledge on biomaterials and their interaction with human cells for regenerative purposes.

Selected publications:

  • Assessment of a PCL-3D Printing-Dental Pulp Stem Cells Triplet for Bone Engineering: An In Vitro Study, Polymers, 2021.
  • Bioactive Sr(II)/Chitosan/Poly(ε-caprolactone) Scaffolds for Craniofacial Tissue Regeneration. In Vitro and In Vivo Behavior, Polymers, 2021.
  • Tailoring Surface Properties of Carbon Nanofibers via Oxidation and Its Influence on Dental Pulp Stem Cell Viability of PCL/CNF Composites, Polymer Bulletin, 2020.
  • Design, Synthesis, Characterization, and Cytotoxicity of PCL/PLGA Scaffolds through Plasma Treatment in the Presence of Pyrrole for Possible Use in Urethral Tissue Engineering, Journal of Biomaterials Applications, 2018.

Currently, he combines his teaching work with the development of his doctoral research, contributing knowledge in the field of dentistry, biomedicine and materials science for the advancement of innovative therapeutic solutions.
